"First free Messenger " Service
launched
KARACHI (APP)-A Pakistani Internet
portal eTaleem.com launched the country's first
free Instant Messenger Service "eMessenger"
here on Wednesday.
Addressing a news conference at a local hotel,
Faisal Anwar of eTaleem.com said that the messenger
has been developed by his company's in-house
production team.
"We have the honor of being amongst those few
websites of the world like AOL, Yahoo, MSN,
Excite, that have launched their-own messenger
services," said Faisal Anwar.
Explaining the working of the messenger, he
said it is a software that allows people to
communi- cate in real time, using text so ,
that they can quickly exchange messages with
their friends, family members, while they are
online.
Unlike email, the instant messages appear as
soon as they are sent, so this is not only effective,
but is also an efficient and a fast way to converse,
he added.
The messenger is a downloadable software, which
can be downloaded directly from the eTaleem.com
website and stored onto the hard disk of the
user's computer. After that it can be installed
and can be utilized instantly.
Anwar said people who converse with the particular
user and are added to his/her list on the software
are called "buddies'; the online and offline
status of the "buddies" will also be displayed
on this software.
He said this software offers more than just
chatting opportunities.
The user can also make use of other features
through eMessenger, including search facility
on eTaleem.com site, search jobs online, sending
greeting cards, news update, use eBriefcase,
search for online blood donors, getting online
help and add new friends to the list of buddies.
He said the eMessager's next version will carry
the language conversion ability.
The eTaleem.com will the first portal to launch
a messenger service with language conversion
abilities, that is, from English to Urdu.
If the user types a message in Roman English,
the eMessenger service will translate Roman
English into Urdu and the recipient will receive
the message in Urdu script.
Moreover, he said small message service (SMS)
is also part of eMessenger. With this facility,
the user will be able to send SMS messages to
any mobile phone in the world instantly.
The Voice Conversion option will also be available
to the users, he said adding that with this
facility, the users of eMessenger will be able
to converse through a PC to PC voice connection
with each other.
