Online blood donor service
launched
Karachi, June 26: An educational
portal, eTaleem.com,launched its online blood
donor service on Monday providing a virtual
platform to the blood banks and individuals
to interact in case of an expected emergency.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Interior
Minister Lt Gen (Retd) Moinuddin Haider, impressed
with the presentation on the online blood donor
service, said the Internet could offer vast
smartly exploited potential of reaching the
blood donors without much hassle.
He said that very few people were lalking of
positive achievements, including phenomenal
65 per cent growth rate of Internet users.
He mentioned that the nation had been entagled
in violence, terrorism, sectarianism and strike
calls, which saw rise of intolerance in the
society, where logic was lost and bullets had
become parlance.
Moin said that the country lacked no potential
in human resources and everybody must light
a candle instead of cursing the darkness. He
said that the concepts of health, education
and information technology could be brought
in rhyme with progress if the country moved
on with thee emerging technologies.
Maj Gen (Retd) Ghulam Omar, who prosided over
the ceremony, gave full marks to eTaleem.com
for taking initiative in the neglected sector
of blood donor services. He said such a service
to humainity could be the best line of action
for the human being. "Final judgement will be
based on how good you're with others".
Omar believed that an organised blood donation
service would be good for everbody. He emphasised
correlation among different blood services to
serve the needy patients. He said that the country
came into being with special divine blessings
as the state was establishing a society best
in conduct of Islamic tradition.
The Director of eTaleem.com, Maj (Retd) Hanif
Javed observed that the launch of the service
was a historic step towards improved blood bank
network and that too without costing much.
He informed that the company met immense success
in record eight months time as Yahoo. Netscape
and Lycos had rated eTaleem.com as number on
website on education in Asia.
Director Marketing eTaleem.com, Faisal Anwar
said approximately seven million people in Pakistan
were suffering from life threatening diseases,
which required regular blood transfusions.
He said that research had shown that eery three
seconds someone around the world needed blood."Realising
the issue, eTaleem.com envisioned the concept
of an online blood donor service and has finally
made it available for the masses free of cost"
he added.
"Million of people are in need of blood but
with the contribution of a population of 140
million this problem can be encountered."
He mentioned that eTaleem.com would be used
as a platform to offer link between those who
wanted to donate blood and those were in need
of it. "eTaleem.com received three million hits
in a very short span of time due to the sincere
and hard working of our team, friends and well-wishers."
Director Marketing Jang Group of Newspapers,
Sarmad Ali termed the blood transfusion process
a difficult experience, as large number of transfusions
could not be traced coming from safe sources.
He extedded his company's support to eTaleem.com
deeming it a social obligation to help build
