In this age of wisdom and modernity ironically the greatest predicament that exists is that the cost of living and saving lives has become higher, and unfortunately life itself has lost its worth to us. We live in a materialistic, opportunistic society where being selfish is the norm for survival and giving has become a sigh on the weak. This is not a dark dismal picture, it is the truth of what we have become, and we need to expand our horizons and open our hearts.

eTaleem.com made an effort on this front and started a mission , understanding the fact that all lives are precious. The outlook was to help save lives in faster, better and efficient manner, via a methodology that was free, because the truth is that no matter what cost you may allocate to a life saving method, nothing can be as precious as life.

For this purpose, a service named 'Online Blood Donor' was launched. This service is part of the eTaleem.com. It is absolutely free of cost and is the only one of its kind in the world. eTaleem.com has the privilege of being the only site not only in Pakistan but also around the world to have initiated such a service, which is so unique in nature.

- people who wish to donate blood

It is equipped with databases with highly organized search facilities helping a user search for a blood donor with a specific blood group with in a specific area. It also provides those who wish to donate blood voluntarily with an arrangement to do so and get in touch with the people who need blood.

The 'Online Blood Donor Service' was officially launched on Monday 25th June 2001 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi. Lt. Gen. (R) Moinuddin Haider, Interior Minister Islamic Republic of Pakistan graced the ceremony as Chief Guest and Maj. Gen. (R) Ghulam Umer presided over the ceremony.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, Maulana Mohammad Najmullah recited a few holy verses regarding the importance of living together with in a community and the growth and development of society.

The first speaker for the session was Mr. Ashraf Hussain, Marketing Manager eTaleem.com, followed by Mr. Agha Masood Hussain renowned author and journalist, Mr. Abdul Haleem Sharar also a renowned author and journalist.

Professor Dr. Moiz Hussain, Founder of the Institute of Mind Sciences and Institute of Classical Yoga with 26 years of experience in teaching and training spoke on the topic of Blood donation, the next speaker was Mr. Arshaduddin Ahmed, Chief Business Head, Pak Water Bottlers Ltd.

There was question and answers session followed by participation from the members of the audience who stated their views, comments and suggestion regarding the 'Online Blood Donor Service'. The audience consisted of doctors, teachers, executives, members of the armed forces, with such a versatile group at hand, there was a lot of active participation and the enthusiasm to help the community and the society against health problems and other predicaments was abound.

The honorable Chief Guest arrived after the question and answer session. His arrival was followed by a Flash and Power Point presentation on the 'Online Blood Donor Service', these presentations proved to be rather comprehensive and made clear the entire system that has been formed by eTaleem.com regarding the online blood donation service.

The presentations were followed by the welcome address given by Major (R) Muhammad Hanif Jawed, Director Coordination eTaleem.com. The next guest speaker was Mr. Sarmad A. Ali, Group Executive Director, the Jang Group who spoke on the benefits and the revolution that the 'Online Blood Donor Service' would bring about in the society.

His speech was followed by the address of Mr. Faisal Anwar, Director Marketing eTaleem.com who spoke about 'the good life' and 'a Great Society' in his speech.

After Mr. Faisal Anwar's address, the honorable chief guest Lt. Gen. (R) Moinuddin Haider addressed the audience, he was very encouraging and appreciated the idea and the service in it self. He displayed allot of hope in the younger generation and their intentions and he also said that the future of this country is appears bright because it is supported by the dreams and aspirations of so many young people.

His address was followed by the speech of the President of the Ceremony, Maj. Gen. (R) Ghulam Umer who was Los very encouraging and reinforced the idea of the importance of collective effort for the purpose of building a better society.

The Plaque distribution ceremony succeeded his speech, Mr. K.M.Jilani, Director Technical eTaleem.com presented the plaque to the Chief Guest and then the
Honorable Chief Guest presented the rest of the plaques to the distinguished guest speakers.

Mr. Kamran Sani, Marketing Manager Pak Water Bottles Pvt. Ltd. delivered the Vote of Thanks to Chief Guest, the President of the ceremony, the distinguished guest speakers and the members of the audience.

This ended the ceremony; it was a wonderful gathering of intellectuals and people with a dream of wanting to make Pakistan a healthier and a better place.
