- Any
Cancer should be confirmed by Biopsy. In Biopsy - a small part
of the cancerous area is taken out by cutting. This part is processed
and stained by proper chemicals. Then this is kept under the Microscope
on a piece of glass, which is known as slide, and analysed for
Cancer Cells. If Cancer cells are found, then it is called positive.
- After
confirmation Doctors usually do some blood examinations, X-rays,
CT Scan, bone scan, Liver scan, bone marrow examination, Mammography
etc., whichever is necessary in that particular type of
Cancer. WHO has advised all females to do blood test for CA-125
for Ovary Cancer and CA-15-3 for Breast Cancer twice in a year.
For Males, PSA for Prostate Cancer can be tested regularly to
know about the Prostate Cancer earlier.
